Which part do you not like? The lesbian or the Jewish? Or do you take issue with the combination? That’s rather silly. There are loads of us by the way.
Some of my most favorite people are gay - please tell me you u destined the the difference between Zionism and Judaism? They are not the same. Israeli Zionists are committing genocide of an entire culture. Jewish people follow Judaism - one of many religions. So which are you?
What a loaded question - how do YOU define Zionism? Because I bet you do not define it properly, which was detailed in the piece.
There is no genocide being committed by Israel - but the people who continue to attack and attempt to destroy Israel are committed to killing every Jew and Israeli - that would be an actual genocide.
Zionism - the existence of Israel in our homeland - is part and parcel of all forms of Judaism. Most of our holidays center around Eretz Yisrael or events which occurred there.
So that's who and what I am - a lesbian feminist Jewish Zionist.
You clearly did not read the piece but were merely triggered by the concept that I, and people like me, exist.
All true. And your response to GMT is excellent. But to be even more exact, Purim is our only holiday that is not connected to a time, or place, in the land of Israel. (Passover is the redemption from slavery in Egypt, but is also the beginning of our first return to the Land of Israel.) Moreover, regardless of where in the world Jews find themselves, their prayers for rain (found in the Torah service section of our communal prayers) are recited from after Succot until Passover; this is the rainy season in the Land of Israel.
Also, this GMT person is incorrect in calling Judaism "one of many religions." We were already a people for at least 500 years prior to receiving the Torah, which contains our commandments, and taking on the aspects of religious practices. About half of the 613 mitzvot/commandments can only be fulfilled in the Land of Israel.
We are grouped into tribes, each tribe stemming from the sons of Jacob/Israel. Nowadays, only Kohanim and Levites still know their tribe. The rest are no lumped into one big group of Israel. (There are thoughts that a group of the Jewish communities in India were from the tribe of Menasha.) Although many Jews no longer know their specific tribe, the lands apportioned to each tribe are known.
GMT probably will not see this. But I wanted to jump in where you left off, because other people might read it and take it to heart.
Thank you for this. It's a hard but necessary read.
Thanks Deborah and Susan.
Not a good combination Susan.

Be better - or you're as bad as the terrorists.

@Perry Dror: I know your comment was to Deborah, but I want to thank you for it. Great contribution.
I think it's great. If you disagree, lay out why.
