Undeniably masculine but infinitely caring with those who are suffering, his working-class ruggedness as much as part of him as his tenderness, Noah Wyle’s Doctor Robby is something else.
I love that for Dr. Robby being Jewish just is part of who he is. He’s a great doctor and so very human. It’s nice to see Jews portrayed so positively for a change. I’ve noticed for quite some time most Jewish characters were either the obnoxious female you don’t want anywhere near your life or the deadly former Mossad agent turned evil pariah.
Yes Dr. Robby is sexy, too. Strong, intelligent men can and should be vulnerable too. It’s really simply called being human.
Susan, I loved this post so much — and I am a huge fan of "The Pitt." I'm so glad to hear that it has an ardent social-media following, because I've been staying away from a lot of reviews and other news reading lately and was worried. that it was being overlooked. Noah Wyle is phenomenal, so much better than when he was a young pup in ER, and I do think this is one of the most realistic hospital dramas I've ever seen, especially post-Covid. So, everything you said, and I'm glad you gave a shoutout to the suffering caused by the Tree of Life mass shooting in Pittsburgh; the resonance is there. Also thanks for nods to all the other doctor dramas, which I have a soft spot for. Fortunately for me, I haven't yet seen the finale of this season of "The Pitt" — I've traveling out of the country — so it's something to look forward to.
And now that this stack is done, I’m looking forward to reading your chapters! First I must get rid of this blistering headache caused by inadvertently watching Trump press conference. The hate just rose from my stomach to my eyes to my forehead.
Beautiful, Susan. I'm afraid that the Pitt has spoiled me for all other hospital shows. Thank you for pointing out the Pittsburgh and Dr. Raboniwtz connections.

Same take for me on all counts - well expressed as usual!
Thank you!

Sorry about the headache! But yes - the loathing is hard to control, which is why we need to hold onto the real and fictional heroes who inspire us.
I haven’t watched The Pitt, and you have convinced me. The dreadful bad-news scene from ER got me thinking of Raymond Carver’s autobiographical poem about receiving his cancer diagnosis. It’s a beauty. https://wordsfortheyear.com/2020/04/14/what-the-doctor-said-by-raymond-carver/

There are heroes in the world.
Or simply, when he played!😉
Thanks!! There were a few typos in there, and I appreciate eveyone who catches that stuff.
First sentence, I think you mean when he was playing! (Not played).
