Yes, I’m sad that i didn’t learn more when I had a chance. So full of vitality and color—and so full of great curses. Now all the Yiddish-speaking generations are gone, and I don’t see a “Babel” for Yiddish.
Love this! And have also tried ordering those glorious flowy dresses only to have them barely fit over my head! Gave them all away, and live in safari pants (elastic waistbands) and safari shirts with layers as needed by weather. Hiking boots or sandals rounds it out. It’s a look that gets people asking me, “Who do you think will be taking over when David Attenborough dies?” 😳 That look implies adventure to me, so I’ll take it any time. But won’t order clothes online from discount sources again. Schmatte indeed!
No hunting involved, but lots of “adventure travel!” Safari-style works well in just about any venue except cocktail or formal... but those are infrequent for us anyway! Wish I could post a pix - favorite photo from Greek trip is sitting on a stone tier in an ancient amphitheater in my safari slacks and shirt. 😉
What an interesting read and I love every part of it. Sounds very difficult to navigate the complexities of fashion as a female. I'm fortunate that I can wear golf shirts and khaki jeans, makes things a bit simpler!
now that's efficiency! I'm actually facing an existential crisis of sorts because I built up my entire wardrobe while in college (about 15-20 years ago) of graphic tees, jeans, golf shirts, but they're all Large or XL and I'm getting a bit big to fit in them so I'm freaking out! Might actually be enough motivation for me to finally shed a few pounds.
You mean the under the kitchen sink rag that hung nestled in the trap.
Among other things….
Yiddish reminds me of my mother’s first tongue. Gaelic. Languages of the little people.

Thank you. And love the David Attenborough image! Happy hunting!

That’s funny....I was going to ask you for a pic! It’s frustrating we can’t post them in notes.
I know! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I’m amused that “Coastal Grandma” is now a coveted look. Those exquisite, flowing schmattes can be quite expensive, which somehow misses the point.
I should put “Coastal Grandma” in the piece! The irony of it! And makes me even angrier I didn’t save those old Laura Ashleys.

Yes, and if you’re my husband, who is wearing the same jacket he wore 20 years ago, it’s even simpler!

Or take a trip to Target!
