She is still Madam President to me.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. And standing for your support in what you believe in. I cried when Kamala Harris was defeated by the Republicans. It still brings tears to my eyes. Because of a man that doesn't want to make America great. That is against lower class people or people with disabilities. I'm concerned not only for my own welfare but of others.

I just love your Voice!!! Susan Bordo. You give me hope and yes she is 100% correct but the MEDIA is our #1 problem - they constantly belittle all Dems as having no message and being elites - so sick of it. Its now corporate media and corporate America - I am all for hope so I was happy to resubscribe to your great newsletter. Keep writing and keep hoping. Happy Thanksgiving!!

Thanks for the re-sub, and even more so for your encouraging words. It’s a bad, bad time, and I often wonder about the value of continuing to write about it. Comments like yours help so much!

Thank you, Susan, for bringing two of my favorite people in politics to mind on an otherwise largely shitty day. Both of them have lifted my spirits on many days, and the reminder of them is enough today.

You’re welcome. It was to lift my own spirits too. And it has!

Kamala was over whelmed by the media domination by trump’s buffoonery and by her steadfast adherence to civility . She should have in the debate and in other ways ripped his gonads out , in word and imagery . A hard lesson that leads to the norm we bathe in today .

But she did “rip his gonads out” in the debate! She just didn’t throw them on the floor and smash them with her heels. And she was incredible in that interview with the Fox turd.

I too would have liked to see more Jasmine-like anger. But that’s not Kamala. And every woman politician is one sentence away from being seen as an angry, demented bitch. It’s a tightrope that’s hard to get across.

Honestly, I don’t think she could have done much differently. Too many obstacles to overcome from the beginning, and a media that wouldn’t give her a break. And a whole lot of people who believed the lies of the Right.

So I sat for hours this morning contemplating writing the obligatory Thanksgiving post and ending up deleting everything. It all just felt so phoney and sanctimonious. This was much more along the lines of what we need right now. We all need to count our blessings, look for that silver lining, and get our tuches in gear.

I hope you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Same to you, dear! (I think the aversion to sanctimony is one of the things we have in common. I cringe easily.)

Susan, Thanks so much for speaking truth to distortion and bullying (if you ask me). I have had no stomach for ingesting the talking heads playing this blame game. What I have been trying to figure out is what nearly half the country did wrong in returning a now Frankenstein-ized Trump to power when they had someone as competent and remarkable as Harris to choose instead. I watched Join or Die (an elaboration of Bowling Alone) and The YouTube Effect by Alex Winters. Pieces of the puzzle are everywhere but not in Harris’s performance as a candidate.
