Also-- this particular piece I think illustrates perfectly why I think we get along. Maybe this subject would be a good one for us to collaborate on, although I don’t know what form something like that would take. The subject: that we are at war with ourselves, when we ask art to be better than society, but then we keep being reminded that art giving us better people/less prejudice and less prejudice-based and malevolent power-based characters and stories is not necessarily as entertaining.
That really is a tempting idea. I think we’d both enjoy it and have lots of things to say. You’re right that finding the right form for it is the thing. We should think seriously about it. Maybe start by brainstorming some of the movies/tv we could talk about in it. “Killing Eve,” for sure. But then, there are those that go over a line. Have you seen “Saltburn”? Would like to know what you think of that one. Maybe—just brainstorming—we could use it as a way to kick off the post with something that’s stirring controversy right now.

That is a good idea. Lisa and my son max both saw saltburn, i haven’t but should.
See it, then let’s reconvene.
Is it perverse of me to want to watch a show where Villanelle kills Ally McBeal? Or maybe she kills the writers.
